Stephen Fry Lends His Voice to the Safe AI for Children Alliance

We’re proud and grateful to share that Sir Stephen Fry has spoken so graciously and supportively about SAIFCA and our work.
Stephen Fry has long been one of the UK’s most respected public figures - a celebrated writer, actor, broadcaster, and advocate for causes ranging from mental health awareness to LGBTQ+ rights, environmental sustainability, and digital responsibility. More recently, he has spoken out about the societal risks posed by artificial intelligence, including the unauthorised cloning of his own voice using generative AI.
We are honoured that Sir Stephen has now lent his voice to the growing effort to protect children from the risks AI poses - from exploitation and manipulation to loss of trust, autonomy, and psychological safety.
As AI becomes more powerful and more deeply embedded in children’s lives, protecting their well-being is not optional - it is essential. Sir Stephen’s words help to amplify that message and bring broader attention to this urgent and still underrepresented issue.
“SAIFCA is doing something quite incredibly important and should be highly praised. AI is simultaneously thrilling and chilling, promising and threatening - a whole new generation of children is now growing up in a new age where AI will be prevalent and baked into so many devices and services that they will take it for granted.
Unintended consequences through AI misalignment is one danger, another is the dark menace of predatory and malicious humans armed with some of the powers of deception and manipulation that AI can lend them.
Without being hysterical or overreactive SAIFCA reminds us to be aware of this as the technology speeds up. We should be very grateful for them and attend to their ideas and recommendations.”
Sir Stephen Fry
We extend our warmest thanks to Sir Stephen for his kind words, and to his team for their generosity in sharing them.
