Our Mission & Strategy

The Safe AI for Children Alliance (SAIFCA) is dedicated to protecting children from the urgent risks posed by AI while also working to create a brighter future for them.
Our Mission & Strategy

Our mission is to protect children from the risks posed by artificial intelligence - both today and as increasingly powerful AI systems shape the world they will inherit.

Through awareness, education, and collaboration, we aim to:

  • Protect children from AI-related dangers, such as inappropriate content, exploitation, and manipulation.
  • Empower parents, educators, and policymakers to guide children in navigating AI safely - while advocating for regulation to hold technology accountable for harms and responsible for protection from harm.
  • Contribute to broader societal efforts to ensure AI aligns with human well-being and supports a safer future for all
  • Foster collaboration among stakeholders to amplify impact and drive meaningful change.
  • Advocate for the responsible development and use of AI for humanity’s benefit as a critical component of safer AI systems.

By focusing on children today, we also help build the foundation for a world where advanced AI systems are developed and governed with care, preventing catastrophic risks that could impact future generations.

Our Strategy for Year One

Our strategy in year one - 2025 - focused on raising awareness, building an alliance, and creating meaningful impact.

We developed a comprehensive one-year strategy to guide our efforts; some of our goals included highlighting the dangers from AI Companions, strengthening partnerships that prioritised ethical AI and shared solutions, and raising awareness of the growing threat of AI-generated CSAM.

We achieved and exceeded our Year One Objectives. Some of our most impactful successes included participating in discussions in the UK House of Lords, becoming an affiliate organisation of the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI and being represented on stage at the 2026 conference at UNESCO, Paris, and being one of the earliest organisations to issue guidance to schools on transitioning away from using identifiable children’s photos online.

We also provided schools with a free full guide to the main AI risks to children, as well as useful guidance such as a quick-time briefing following the release of Sora 2 (AI generated videos), contributed to international initiatives such as the global call for ‘AI red lines’, and initiated our Non-Negotiables campaign.

Our Year 2 Strategy: 2026

In 2026 we will focus increasingly on community building.

We have listened to our supporters and to other experts in the fields of AI and child protection. We understand that people want to contribute to our work and to help move our cause forward - and we want to create new ways to do this.

In 2026 we will continue our Non-Negotiables campaign, and will also introduce a campaign focused on ‘Keeping Childhood Human’. This new campaign will offer opportunities to become part of a movement to protect certain aspects of childhood from AI mediation.

In 2026 we will also amplify fundraising efforts, in order to keep SAIFCA sustainable.
