AI nudifying apps: updated guidance for parents, carers and educators
The UK government has recently introduced or announced several new laws and proposals intended to help keep children safer online. Some of these relate to AI tools used to create child sexual abuse material, including so-called AI “nudifying” apps, while others are intended to stop children seeing, creating or sharing nude or explicit images.

We’ve taken this opportunity to update our information and guidance about the risks AI nudifying apps pose to children.
Our guidance, originally published in September 2025, has been fully updated and now includes a step-by-step response plan for what to do if a child has been targeted.
We’ve written the guide to be useful for parents, carers and educators.
The first part outlines a clear step-by-step response plan, while the latter part explains more about AI “nudifying” tools and how parents and educators can help protect children.
As always, we aim to provide free, practical advice to help protect children from the risks of AI.
